Introducing YAA Online Shop!!

Hi everyone!! I’m back to blogging again. I took a little break because I started my online business to go along with my blog. Some of you have already ventured over to my online store being hosted by www.wix.com. They offer free web hosting. My website address is www.yarnaddictionattic.wix.com/shop. There you will be able to see where I’ve been focusing my crocheting talent lately. I still make blankets but wanted to branch out into something a little more me!  I also have a Facebook page. It's www.facebook.com/yarnaddictionattic

In addition to my own page there is a Facebook page that I frequently go to called Keisha’s Krochet Corner. This group was started by a great crochet enthusiast named Keisha Grant. It’s a great group of crocheting addicts like me. We share patterns, give each other advice and encourage one another that should we find a difficult pattern to KEEP TRYING!!!! I think of it as a crochet sorority lol. So check back soon. I have many things I will be sharing with you all very soon!!!

Welcome May!!!

Hey there crochet lovers! I’ve been crocheting lately but sparingly doing the blankets. I’ve got one that I’m finishing up. It just needs a border. I haven’t decided on a name for the blanket yet either.

So what have I been up to crochet wise? I’ve been making jewelry!! I found a wonderful tutorial on how to crochet earrings. The pattern creator is Marcelle Cooper-Greffen. Her Youtube channel is OneVirtuousWoman. Here’s a pic of the earrings I made using Loops & Threads embroidery thread. This is #806 a variegated red. Tell me what you think.....

Things are moving along....

I did another blanket!  As soon as I finished it I sold it! That frees me up to start another blanket. I’ve got lots of other patterns to try out and add to the collection. Here’s the Cherry Blossom Blanket...

My girlfriend, Jenna, purchased this car seat version of the Cherry Blossom Blanket for her soon to be niece who will arrive this coming July.

DIY Dry Erase Calendar.....

Hey Everyone!  Well I’m back at it.....crocheting and crafting!

My obsession with Pinterest has caused me to start crafting again. I’m the type of crafter that if I see and love it, I will try to recreate it- for real cheap!!!!
Tonight I decided to make a dry erase calendar that I saw pinned. I went to the website of a lovely lady named Lindy-who I think is outrageously creative. Her blog is http://lindycottagehill.blogspot.com
So here’s my version.....

First I went to good ole Wally World in search of a frame. I wanted it big and it didn’t have to be fancy just big J. I also happened to come across the remnant bin in the fabric department. I got a 19”x60” piece for $2.49. Not too shabby. In the frame department I found the store brand size 18”x24” frame for $8.00. It wasn’t super cheap but a decent price for that size frame.

Tools used: scissors, acid free tacky spray, sharpie marker, and ruler (see photo below)

I forgot to take a picture of the frame before I took it apart....oops my bad.
Lay the cardboard backing on top of your fabric to see how long you need it to be. Next, you spray the cardboard backing with the sticky tack. Lay the fabric on top and smooth out wrinkles.
Now flip it over and decide how big of a calendar you want. You can use the entire area if you plan on writing a lot in the squares. Your grid will be 7columns by 5 rows of course. After drawing your grid lines put the fabric covered cardboard back into the frame.

Voila!!! No more having to go buy the paper calendars... I like that! How about you?

All together this project cost me just under $11. Not bad at all....

Checking in...

Hey fellow yarn lovers! I just wanted to drop a few lines and talk about what I've been up to lately.....

I’ve been planning new color combinations for my blankets. I’m currently working on a couple of scarf sets for the daughters of a friend of mine. As soon as I’m done I’ll be posting pictures of the sets of course. The girls are anxious to model them for the camera. They are little fashionistas I swear.

However in the meantime, I recently acquired a new addiction. It’s called www.pinterest.com. I can’t get enough of that place. It’s given me a lot of inspiration to venture out beyond the usual blankets, hats and scarves. You guys might see some sewing projects posted on here too. I’ve also found so many recipes to cook I’m going to end up fat unless I find my way to the gym in between eating and crocheting.

That's all for now. I'll be back soon.
